Wisdom teeth (third molars) often cause significant issues due to a lack of space in the jaw, leading to impaction, decay, and deep infections. At Dr. Rajan Nikumbh Dental & Braces Clinic in Manpada, Thane West, we routinely manage complex surgical extractions to restore our patients' oral health and eliminate severe pain.
Below is a clinical overview of a recent case involving a chronically infected lower wisdom tooth.

The Clinical & Radiographic Diagnosis
A patient presented to our clinic at Dosti Imperia experiencing significant discomfort in the lower jaw. A comprehensive radiographic examination (X-ray) was conducted, revealing a highly compromised mandibular third molar.
The digital imaging showed:
- Periapical Pathology: A distinct radiolucent area around the root apex, indicating a chronic, deep-seated infection involving the surrounding jawbone.
- Root Resorption: Progressive loss and deterioration of the tooth's root structure, a direct result of the longstanding inflammatory process.
Due to the extensive structural damage and the severity of the surrounding bone infection, the tooth was deemed non-restorable.
The Surgical Intervention
To eliminate the source of the infection and prevent the pathology from spreading to adjacent healthy teeth, Dr. Rajan Nikumbh advised an immediate surgical extraction.
Following strict surgical and sterilization protocols, the compromised wisdom tooth was carefully elevated and removed. The extraction socket was then meticulously cleaned and managed to remove all infected soft tissue, ensuring an optimal environment for healthy bone regeneration and rapid healing.
Don't Ignore Wisdom Tooth Pain
Chronic dental infections do not heal on their own. If you are experiencing pain, swelling, or limited jaw movement, immediate evaluation is necessary.
